I've been fighting with this laptop for a few days now, trying to get Mojave installed. I've got Clover working, and it successfully boots the Mojave installer. The installer runs all the way up until about 75% of the progress bar is filled. Once it gets to "about 2 minutes remaining" the fans speed up and it kernel panics every time.
I found an old reddit post where someone had a similar problem, and managed to fix it by booting from the newly created install partition on the hard drive (as opposed to booting from the USB installer). I tried that, and it wouldn't even boot. It kernel panics before it even gets to the apple logo.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I can post my clover setup if that helps to diagnose anything...
(I've also been posting on the tonymacx86 forums in this thread, but didn't get much help there.)
