I'm building this primarily to edit video in FCPX. A couple years ago, I had Sierra on the same motherboard and CPU using Multibeast. I roughly followed this guide:
This time, I plan to follow the Skylake vanilla guide here: https://hackintosh.gitbook.io/-r-hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide/ so I'm gonna learn some stuff, and I'm not in a terrible hurry.
Here's what I know:
• It's not easy to get all the USB ports working (Wasn't successful with USBInjectAll.kext last time).
• Sound is also difficult. I had some success with applehda / audio_cloverALC-110_v1.0r10.command but never got rid of a repetitive clicking sound.
Here's what I'll try:
• A USB SSDT for a similar motherboard: SSDT-USB-H170N-WIFI
• AppleALC-1.3.5 / Lilu for audio using the following guide: https://hackintosher.com/guides/get-hackintosh-audio-working/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/4e23w6/guide_native_audio_with_clover_applealckext/
• Add a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 4G, 4096 MB GDDR5 once this is running well.
• Add a wifi / bluetooth card in the m.2 slot
Am I smart and patient enough to do it this time? We'll see.
Questions:
• Does High Sierra seem like the right OSX to run here?
• I'm not sure if the Corsair MP510 NVME will work - I read it was compatible in one hack on a 300 series board. My motherboard supports in theory 32 Gb/s m.2.
I wonder if anyone has any experience with H170 boards and this SSD.
I'll update here as I proceed and I appreciate any comments.
