Is a Bounty program a good idea?

Something I’ve been considering for a bit (as I’ve been trying to get my Thinkpad T460P to work effectively, black screen on boot and sleep have been problems that have been persistent) is that I wish there was a way to organize a bounty program to help setup machines.

For instance, I have been fiddling with my laptop for a while, but I can’t get it to work exactly like I’d like it to, and I’d be willing to drop $50 or so as a bounty to get my particular build up and running, and then publish the EFI to GitHub so that the community could share it. I’m finding that I’m spending so much time searching through forums, translating GitHub repos written in Chinese, throwing stuff at the wall and trying random things to try and get my device working, to no avail, with the little free time I do have.

I’ve been curious if something like this has ever been considered on a widespread basis? I feel like it’d be good for the community as an incentive to develop more Golden (or near golden) builds, as not everybody has those machines that have been tried and tested (like the Dell XPS line).
