This will hopefully be my last post where it contains everything I may need help with. I'll try to compile all my questions and status (to be a reference for anyone who may have a similar build/set of issues as me). As suggested, I've had some proper time to successfully boot and install Mojave 10.14.4 using corpnewt's vanilla guide with only some minor modifications to get it running. First, my system build:
CPU: i7-8086K
MOBO: ASRock Z390 Pro4
RAM: 16GB 2667 Corsair LPX
SSD: Samsung EVO 850 (I have other drives, but this is where Mojave exists in APFS file format)
WiFi/BT: BCM94352Z (connected via a PCI card)
The only additions I made to the vanilla Coffee Lake (sample) config.plist were to add device-id for graphics device under Devices/Properties and a Z390 patch that would get past an apfs_module_1393 hang. (Read more on Z390 patch here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/ahtsv2/comment/eejzejm/). BIOS is set to iGPU default and memory allocation is "Auto" -- connected to my Dell 2716DGR via HDMI. My motherboard only has HDMI, VGA, or DVI but the monitor only has DP and HDMI. Hence, I'm pretty much stuck with using HDMI. Other BIOS stuff: XHCI Hand-off enabled and VT-d disabled.
What doesn't work:
- Graphics Acceleration
- Audio
- Bluetooth
- Sleep
For now, I'm not concerned with anything but Graphics Acceleration cause the others I'm fairly confident I can fix/ultimately live without. However, it seems like a lot of essential software/apps utilize some form of the graphics hardware so I'd need it for productivity.
So far, I've tried changing Fake ID IntelGFX and setting ig-platform-id (+ Inject Intel) according to suggestions in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/7rn5tg/help_with_intel_hd_graphics_630/
It didn't work (I think I remember some kind of iGPU frame buffer match issue). Since then, I've changed everything back to vanilla settings and it's what I'm running now. Take a look at my EFI folder (SMbios info is redacted, but I am indeed running iMac18,1 for iGPU driving the display).
