Managed success on my 2nd try to get the below build fully working and running perfectly. Vanilla guide was awesome for the USB prep and install, and YouTube/Google for the post-install work.
To get the Nvidia card working, I followed the guide here: https://hackintosher.com/guides/properly-install-nvidia-drivers-high-sierra-10-13/. Graphics acceleration worked sweet and am going to test out some simple games with it.
Build:
MB: ASRock Z370 Pro 4
RAM: G.Skill 16GB 3000MHz
NVMe SSD - Dual boot: Samsung EVO 970 (Windows) / ADATA SX8200PNP (MacOS) [was able to detect as an NVMe SSD]
GFX: Zotac GTX 1080 8GB
Monitor setup: Triple monitor setup
Sound: Massdrop O2 SDAC
Note: After rebooting for the 1st time, the SDAC could not be detected. However, plugged it out and back in again and it worked immediately (without reboot).
Just saved a bunch of money on getting a Mac! Almost pulled the trigger on a MBA to replace an old MBP.
P.S. For those thinking of following the tonymacx86, really try this Vanilla version. It really isn't all that difficult compared to tonymacx86, especially if you just follow it to the letter!
