Hey everyone!
I worked with my coworker a couple months back to build my first hackintosh-- how awesome these things are! I have some history in building gaming PCs, but this is my first hackintosh. It's been treating me great, and certainly been a value for the money (a comparable Mac would've been 3-4x the price).
The only issue is that it has occasional audio stuttering and glitches, which impact me heavily as I use the machine for music production. These manifest in playback issues as well as recording issues, pops and interference can be heard on some recordings, ruining a perfect take! I think it is when the processor gets under load, because if I run any heavy task with audio playing I can reproduce a good amount of the time. I've tried to check the logs, but I'm also pretty useless in that regard so some guidance would be great. On a few occasions, sometimes it entirely hangs up and crashes. Usually the audio glitch happens before it does (although much more severe than the regular glitches) and then a total power-off occurs. I don't know if this is just caused by the same thing (or just cost of using a hackintosh on a recent version, lol), or somehow involved.
I also don't get any of these issues on my Windows side, which leads me to believe it's not a grounding issue or build issue.
I'll post my build below, including the external audio card I use for recording and playback.
Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming
Intel Core i9-9900K
MSI Gaming Radeon RX 5700 XT
2x Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 (one for mac, one for windows)
2x G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Interface (USB A -> USB B)
I would love if you guys could shed some light, and I'd love to answer any questions if it helps. Thanks!
