Karabiner - allows trackpad buttons to work at the cost of erratic tracking - how to fix?

I'm not sure if this is a Karabiner issue or a Hackintosh+Karabiner issue so I thought I would start by posting here!

Currently, my trackpad (Dell 7390 2-in-1) works absolutely fine, apart from the trackpad buttons. Using Karabiner, I can get the trackpad buttons to work as expected (mapping mouse button 2 to mouse button 1), but then the trackpad itself starts to behave erratically (small movements on the trackpad correspond to almost random movements of the cursor on-screen).

Is there a way to allow Karabiner to modify my mouse button clicks, without it manipulating the input from the trackpad itself?
