I am considering hackintoshing my old acer desktop running haswell. The problem is that after the cpu fan failed, I replaced it with a third party option. The problem is that Acer's bios runs the fan at 300rpm (WHY) so the cpu is pinned at 90c on idle. My fix to this problem since acer's bios is extremely locked down has been to use a fan control software within windows called argus (the only one I've found that will work around acer's dumb bios) Since the software is within windows, my question is will virtual smc manage to hand temp control over to Mac OS which will manage the temps far better or will the bios cause problems?
What are your thoughts?
