How to Fix Custom PC in 2021 Hackintosh Compatibility

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Verify your network controller model (Intel, Broadcom, Realtek).
  2. Ensure the correct kext (e.g., AirportItlwm or BrcmPatchRAM) is loaded in your config.
  3. Clear network interfaces and reset NVRAM if changes don't apply.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Hi all,

First post here. Currently building a custom Pc as a mac user. Was really keen on getting a fully function hackintosh working, especially with most parts being relatively new.

Specs:

Case: IQUNIX ZX-1 Aluminum Mini-ITX Case

Motherboard: Z690 Mini ITX (12th Gen Intel Support + DCIP 4.0 + DDR5 RAM)

CPU: Intel 12th Gen Core i7-12700KF LGA 1700 Unlocked Desktop Processor

GPU: Leadtek Quadro P4000 8GB DGGR5 GPU (Checked works with High Sierra and nothing above)

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4

SSD: Samsung 980 PRO 1TB 3-bit MLC V-NAND M.2 (2280) NVMe SSD (PCIE 4.0) (Realised Samsung SSD are problematic and will change to a non samsung SSD)

PSU: Corsair 750W SF750 Platinum High Performance SFX Power Supply

CPU COOLER: NZXT Kraken X53 R1 240mm AIO

Main questions:

- Does Alder Lake CPUs on a Z690 motherboard work? (More specifically on High Sierra due to quadro p4000 GPU)
There are discussion on Alder Lake CPUs working on Hackintosh with some saying the E cores need to be disabled. Does this mean a hard wired disable where it would be disabled on the native windows or is this something done within the Hackintosh alone?

- The Z690 Mini ITX (12th Gen Intel Support + DCIP 4.0 + DDR5 RAM) has Intel WIFI 6E AX210 and Bluetooth 5.2

I guess it all comes down to whether these hardwares will work on High Sierra. Especially getting airdrop to work.

Any tips and comments appreciated !
