Boot errors on legacy boot with OpenCore 0.9.9

i’ve been racking my brains over these errors for about three days now. nothing i do seems to help. i’ve RTFM from start to finish about four times now, and from what i’ve gathered, it stems from the boot file (renamed bootX64 file) not directing to the OpenCore.efi file in the OC folder. has anyone managed to get around this? if so, how? or did i miss something obvious?

this is on a Thinkpad L420 (Sandy Bridge, hardware-wise almost identical to the better known T420 apart from the HM65 chipset) with a legacy BIOS
