can't get sonoma on my mac

i have tried EVERYTHING and followed the process MULTIPLE times. i always get the same outcome: i go to install the OS, the estimated time is like 44 minutes, 30 minutes in and it's done installing, i get the apple support link black screen with the Ø. i don't know what might be going wrong honestly.

i have a macbook pro 13' from 2016 and before trying to install sonoma i tried ventura and it worked, but after trying to upgrade to sonoma i can't even get to ventura anymore (similar to what i have described above just that instead of 44 minutes it's a more believable time, a couple of hours, and then i get the black screen with the Ø)! all i can do (and have been doing) is reinstalling monterey from the internet recovery (if i try installing high sierra from internet recovery it won't let me, even tho it's an option)
