Victim was an old late 2012 Mini running on native Catalina. Had been a totally perfectly fine computer used basically for nothing more than browsing / medai streaming until Apple pushed Catalina out and also declared end of support at which time - gee coincidentally! - it became unusably mysteriously slow. Would still try and use it once in a while but nearly impossible. Any click of a Finder menu choice (or anything else for that matter) would be beachball-city constantly. BTW NO programs / services or crazy hardware drivers loaded, pretty much a barebones vanilla install trying to use either Safari or Chrome.
Well what do you know Monterey blazes now. WTF Apple. Seems abundantly clear they sabotage the OS's for discontinued hardware. If anything a newer OS should run slower because you'd assume it has loads more stuff added.
OCLP is super cool. We have another old MacBook lying around with similar issues, I'm gonna try and give the treatment as well.
Did not try to go to Ventura based on reports from other Late 2012 OCLP users saying Monterey was fastest. Don't need any specific features or anything so this is fine, just needed halfway usable performance. Although a nice to have is that other programs (ex: Chrome) won't be stuck at old revs because they aren't being updated anymore for Catalina.
