Hello,
I posted about this before but it kind of died with no real results. I thought I would try again with a more detailed post. I would really appreciate if anyone can help!
I am attempting to update my Mac Pro 5,1 to Sequoia using Open Core Legacy Patcher and I have encountered an issue. I will walk you through my process and hopefully I will be clear enough that you can help.
- I created the installer with a brand new 32 GB flash drive using OCLP on my MBP.
- I then built and installed Mac Pro 5,1 onto the flash drive using OCLP.
- Pop the USB to my Mac 5,1 and start up holding the option key.
- Once on the boot picker I select EFI Boot from the USB, as per the wiki guide.
- After that, I select Install Sequoia from the USB. System boots to the 4 option recovery screen and I select install. Everything progresses normally and the computer restarts.
- On the next restart, Apple Logo and progress bar appear and continues with no issue. System restarts.
- Here the system starts up and I have two options: Install Seqouia or Mac HD as a boot drive. I select Mac HD. Screen goes dark, system never boots OS and eventually my monitors go into sleep mode.
- Hold down power, restart, select Mac HD, same result ad infinitum.
I have rebuilt the installer and OCLP several times and started the process fresh, always with the same result. I am hoping I am missing some small detail that is just messing me up, but I have tried everything I can to trouble shoot this. I hold option with restart each time and make sure to pick the USB EFI boot, but nothing changes. I let the process run on its own, same result. Does anyone have any experience or insight on this issue? Thank you so much!
