I used Dosdude1 to upgrade from High Sierra to Catalina, should i update to Big Sur using open core or stay?

I want to upgrade to big sur bc more stuff supports it, but some is telling me it will be laggy and choppy. Should i go to Big Sur? (Mid 2010 MacBook Pro) (I will edit this when i get the specs because rn i am doing something)
