I'm in the process of planning to purchase a MacBook Air in the next few months after four years of happy hackintoshing. But that being said, I'm curious about the SMBIOS is stored in a real Mac. Evidently it's a part of bios but is this on a secure part of the logic boards firmware? For long term usage is there any known way to modify the SMBIOS through flashing another SMBIOS such as the ones we utilize in our hacks? In the event that Apple drops support for a Mac, they obviously won't be supporting system and by that stage the warranty will be void.
