I have an 8700k/1080 hack running High Sierra with which I tried to format a 16 GB drive to OS X Extended (Journaled) – this was in an attempt to create a Mojave Installer.
Instead of formatting just the USB Drive, Disk Utility formatted both the USB and my Win10 850 Evo (both NTFS) to OS X Extended non-journaled. I have no backup for my Win10 drive, because I'm dumb, and I even recently bought a 970 evo to replace it.
I was and still am totally baffled and confused by this, as I'm 99% confident I selected the right volume to Erase/Format. Is this a known issue that has been encountered before? If so, is it exclusive to Hackintoshes? I really haven't heard of this happening at all, not on a Hackintosh nor a Mac.
Additionally, can anyone recommend data recovery tools? Ideally MacOS software that can repair NTFS drives. The Samsung drive won't mount and Disk Utility's First Aid fails.
