Help with Clover Configurator on Mojave running in a VM

I'm trying to get iMessage working on a Mojave VM running in ESXI.

I already have my machine up and running, and am trying to install Clover Configurator.

I'm following step 3 in this guide Guide

I get stuck at 3.1.3 as I don't have the clover directory in my EFI partition. I downloaded the executable.

I try to install clover (v2.4k r4798) from the executable by downloading the package on the booted machine but the install fails. I also tried downloading the beta.
