Please Check My Work

When I researched the current state of Hackintosh, I encountered this guy:

I respected his hardware choices, and his vanilla Hackintosh approach, but this build was overkill for my needs. I mostly use macOS to feed my inner creative flake — I use Scrivener, Highland 2, and Vellum; nothing else on this platform really excites me. He also has:

and so I split the difference, and mixed up the hardware to better suit my needs. These are the key components that I ended up with:

  • i7 8700 (I don't overclock, and I can't imagine any issue with this)
  • Gigabyte Z390 Designare (reported as a solid Hackintosh choice — it even has Thunderbolt)
  • Sapphire 11265 -01-20 Radeon Nitro+ RX 580 (this should be a conservative and solid choice)

I also chose 32GB 3600MHz RAM (16x2 to allow future expansion, as if).

I think this will work for a Mojave install, but I'm not the expert. What do you guys think? Is this guy (Morgonaut) credible? I'm tempted to believe him, but I've made errors in judgment before.

I've already ordered the hardware because, you know, poor impulse control. What good is life when you can't introduce a little danger to make it fun?
