I just got a MSI Vega 56 Airboost and I'm trying to swap it in for my GTX 1070 but am unable to get it going.
I was under the impression that it was as simple as turning everything off and unplugging the necessary cables, removing the 1070, replacing it with the Vega 56, plugging everything back in, and booting it up.
I tried that and the power comes on and the MSI lights turn on but the monitors stay black.
I was concerned because I saw that the MSI Vega 56 said it requires a 650 W power supply and mine is only 550 W but I've seen many threads that say 550 Watt PSUs work just fine with Vega 56s.
My parts are
Specs
---
i7 6700k 4.0 GHz
MSI Z170A MOBO
Seasonic 550W 80+ Gold
32 GB RAM
I've got 3 monitors but I've tried with just using one as well as unplugging all peripherals that draw power.
I've been running this hackintosh with a 1070 on High Sierra just fine for a while now. When I gave up and took the Vega out and put the 1070 back in it started up just fine.
Any suggestions? Do I need to buy a new PSU?
