Hello everyone. I have successfully installed macOS Catalina on my Lenovo G40-80 (the basic specs are listed at the end of this post). However, the system will ONLY boot with a fake ig-platform-id (0x12345678), which is also why I was able to run the installer in the first place. By using fake id, the system won't be able to recognize my iGPU and the graphics driver won't load, thus bypassing the DVMT insufficient error. The system has only 4MB of VRAM. I have read through multiple guides and followed every single one of them, some even corrupted the previous installation. Again, patching the BIOS won't work on this laptop (proven by other users). I know I must have done something wrong in the process.
Here is my EFI folder: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xF36lkwgJFr6gP0lQI05ddvZaFPm3LdD/view?usp=sharing (Please refer to configTEST.plist as that's the file that I use to boot.) *I saw a cleaner of my hostel carrying an empty PC chassis to the rubbish chute yesterday. I stopped him and took it back to my room, wanted to take the DVD drive and PSU apart to have a look. Surprisingly, there is a TP-Link USB WiFi dongle plugged into the front panel! I took it and now my Hackintosh is online! I made this entire post with this Hackintosh. It's laggy but useable. [link] [comments] |
