| | So, months ago, I updated my unsupported 2015 Mac with Opencore, which was great! I was finally able to use Adobe Cloud without it saying it was not compatible. Fast forward, many updates happened, and at one point, I lost everything because I did update the software, but I must've done something wrong. It took me weeks to restore all the lost data. After that incident, my computer was not running as fast as I had hoped, so I decided to invest in new technology. I'm not that techy, so I was shocked that I successfully installed the software the first time. When it came to updating the system, I became afraid, and I was no longer confident in using this system. I've watched countless videos. I'm not sure if their terminology is just too advanced for me to comprehend or if I am a bit traumatized and don't want to lose everything. I recently purchased the new Mac mini and migrated all my data from my original Mac to the mini. I did not realize that when migrating, it would migrate Opencore as well. So, I began to panic because now I don't need to use the software since this is Apple's newest product. I need help removing the software entirely without deleting the Mac OS or wiping my data. I haven't seen any videos or articles on how to do that exactly. What I've done so far was "erase" it from disk utilities, and I've "unmounted" it. But if I were to update it or simply shut down the mini and restart it, it gives me a pop-up for open-core saying it needs an update as it is on version 2.1.2; I find this surprising because, on my original account, I hadn't updated it what so ever so the last version it was on there was 0.1.5.0. Once I click ignore, it's gone, and I don't see the application in the launcher, but it is still in there because if so, the pop-up wouldn't appear every time I restart the mini. I need guidance on how to remove it. I installed the un-installer pkg, but there's no further information on how to use it. [link] [comments] |
