Novice and help needed

Good Morning Everyone,

I currently have a MacBook 13Inch from late 2008, I have been able to update the software up to Monterey but currently struggling with app support and apps crashing after a while of use.

I have tried going to Venture, Sequoia and Sonoma but them have the issue of keyboards and mouse not working and cannot get past the Lock Screen to get to OpenCore Patcher for root patches.

Is there any other method I can use or any updated root patches that would help with the app crashes on Monterey?
