How to Downgrade from macOS Tahoe to Sequoia on Intel iMac

macOS sequoia

Reverting to macOS Sequoia after Tahoe Installation

If you upgraded your 2019 iMac to the experimental macOS Tahoe and lost Wi-Fi/Ethernet, you must perform a clean downgrade to restore stability.

Downgrade Procedure:

  1. Use Your Existing USB: Plug in the USB drive that still has the macOS Sequoia installer.
  2. Boot EFI: Restart, hold Option, and select the EFI Boot from the USB drive. Then select Install macOS Sequoia.
  3. Wipe the Partition: In the installer, open Disk Utility. Select your main boot drive (the 1TB Crucial SSD) and click Erase. Warning: This will delete all data on the drive.
  4. Reinstall: Exit Disk Utility and follow the prompts to install Sequoia.
  5. Post-Install: Once on the Sequoia desktop, run the OCLP Post-Install Root Patches to restore full hardware acceleration.

Note: Since you have an iPad, you can use it to follow this guide while your desktop is being reinstalled.
