Successful Upgrade Path for MacBook Air 2017

Upgrading a 2017 MacBook Air to macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 using OCLP Nightly builds is a proven method for getting the latest features on this hardware.

Detailed Upgrade Workflow:

  1. Initial Install: Use gibMacOS to download macOS Sequoia 15.5.7. This build is very stable for the initial OCLP 2.4.1 installation.
  2. OCLP 2.5.0 Nightly: After the initial install, OCLP will often auto-update to the 2.5.0 nightly version. Ensure you apply the Post-Install Root Patches and reboot.
  3. Upgrade to 15.7.7: Download OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly. Use the standard System Settings > Software Update to move to 15.7.7. Note: Wi-Fi might stop working temporarily during this step.
  4. Final Patching: Once on 15.7.7, run the OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly Root Patches. This will restore Wi-Fi and system performance.

Pro Tip: Using a nightly build is for experienced users. Always have a full backup before jumping between OCLP major versions.
