2007 Mac Pro 2,1 to run El Capitan - GPU Upgrade?

I have no idea if this is in the correct subreddit, but I don't know where else to look for help.

Basically yesterday I bought a Mac Pro 2,1 from 2007 that was running OS X Lion. The goal was to be able to "modernize" it to where it still had a second life to it as a recording machine or a media center machine. I was able to get El Capitan installed on a second hard drive and able to boot into the OS (a laptop drive for the time being), but I believe the graphics card is out of date completely and is not supported in OS X El Capitan. I know Apple machines are extremely picky about graphics cards, which is why I'm here. In terms of trying to keep total investment into the machine down, what are some options I have in regards to an upgrade to a "newer" graphics card? What else would I need to run El Capitan more smoothly? Below are my specs:

all came stock in the machine CPU: 2x Intel Xeon X5365 3GHz RAM: 8 x 1GB (8GB) DDR2 667 ECC HDD: 250GB WD Blue (OSX Lion drive) 250GB(?) Laptop drive (OSX El Capitan drive) PSU: Default 980W PSU GPU: ATI Radeon 5770 512MB
