Alright guys, so several months ago macOS Mojave debuted and ever since it went into testing (yes, Apple's OS testing and final release happens in same year unlike Microshaft), I thought Mojave wouldn't be fully working on the HP Pavilion because of the Graphics stuff and others. Though after finding WhateverGreen, tinkering some stuff, fine-tuning, Mojave 99.9% works on this HP computer! Now, some of you have this HP Pavilion 570 computer that wants to get a free iMac with the latest OS.
Today, I'll walk over the procedure on how to run macOS Mojave on your HP Pavilion computer. The instructions are the same regardless if you are replacing the OS entirely, dual-booting, or installing on a external disk.
What probably works:
• Full QE/CI
• Audio with AppleALC
• DVD Drive
• USB
• Ethernet
• SD Card Reader (natively, this computer is so freaking lucky)
And of course, sleep mode, well okay :p
And obviously what doesn't work is the WiFi card cause it's Intel. Personally I don't find it a issue (since I use Ethernet), but if you're a person that uses wireless to log on to the Internet, you will have to use a WiFi dongler or replace the WiFi card with a supported one.
Weapons you'll need:
• HP Pavilion 570 (Intel model, if you have a AMD then get out or use AMD OS X)
• USB up to 8 GB
• Real Mac, Hackintosh or Virtual Machine
• Clover
• Install macOS Mojave.app
• EFI Mounter (or Clover Configurator ok no)
Building the USB Installer
So you all know the drill, grab the macOS Mojave Installer from the App Store, make sure it is full 5 GB not the stupid 5 MB one, and once you have it, plug your USB drive in, format it to HFS+, give it a cute name, and fire up the macOS Terminal. Then:
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Mojave.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume
Replace "MyVolume" with your USB drive's name unless MyVolume is your partition name, if you are ultra-lazy. Then hit enter and… just wait.
Once the USB is ready, grab the latest Clover package from SourceForge, and run it. Select your USB drive you just created then go to the Custom Install. Select:
Install Clover for UEFI Booting Only
Install Clover to the ESP
Under Drivers64UEFI:
AptioMemoryFix
HFSPlus.efi (or VBoxHFS-64)
APFSDriverLoader
It should work fine, but if you get a error after setting up all that crap and booting into macOS Installer and other failed and blah blah, just comment here or head to the Discord of /r/hackintosh.
Now for some kexts! Download them, and throw them to the "Other" folder of the "Clover" folder on the EFI partition.
• FakeSMC.kext (So you can shoplift a Mac otherwise it won't work.)
• RealtekRTL8111.kext (For Ethernet Networking.)
• USBInjectAll.kext (For USB to work properly.)
• XHCI-200-series-injector (Maybe?)
• Audio – AppleALC.kext and Lilu.kext. With these kexts, if you watch a happy video you feel happy. And if you listen to something sad, you start to cry.
• GPU – WhateverGreen.kext (and Lilu ofc). The Hackintosh Community changed the GPU patching and Apple too, but it's not easier than the High Sierra guide so we'll have to edit the config.plist
Once you have the kexts loaded, get this config.plist (https://github.com/corpnewt/Hackintosh-Guide/blob/master/Configs/KabyLake/config.plist)
Config.plist configuration time!
Now we will have to make changes to the config.plist in order to have Clover and macOS interact with the HP hardware.
SMBIOS – iMac18,1
Now, if you wanna use Apple services like iMessage (so if you have a pretty teenage girl who has a iPhone and uses that app all the time and you wanna text her so desparately), FaceTime, iCloud, whatever, then you'll need to generate a Serial Number. Just hit the Generate Button, check the Apple Coverage, and if it fails then you're good, but if it passes just click a billion times, check the coverage until your hands are sore. Then once you're good, use that serial number.
Devices/Audio – 13
You'll need to use 13 as the inject code, so then audio can at least work
While you're in Devices, you'll also need to set up the Graphics. Use what is seen at (https://blobscdn.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-28427.appspot.com/o/assets%2F-LNeoQ00Ei54s-gBJWoS%2F-LNgAqPB4OZnWWQjwNMm%2F-LNgB12esiGWDus_t6QR%2Fimage.png?alt=media&token=055934a6-3418-4b85-8f30-a484ad4a5c2e) so you can copy the Properties from there and use that. (And if you are using a sample config.plist you downloaded, I should mention that it might be here for ya)
But hold on a second… this HP computer is golden cause you have the HDMI port. Unfortunately, macOS would boot into a purple tint and it's freaking annoying unless you like some purple goo in your day. So you'll need to add these values to the properties too:
Framebuffer-con1-type 00080000
Framebuffer-patch-enable 01000000
Once you are finished working on your config.plist, just save it to the EFI > Clover folder, replacing the existing config.plist, and you can finally boot.
macOS Installation
Plug in the USB and boot up your HP Pavilion 570. When the HP logo appears, press ESC, go to BIOS Settings, and in Security just turn off Secure Boot. Then Save and Exit, and press F9 when the HP logo appears. Select the USB used to create the installer and Clover will appear, once you see Clover just boot into macOS.
When the installer loads, choose the language you speak, go to Disk Utility, erase whatever partition you have for your macOS, follow on-screen instructions. The installer will reboot your machine several times. Complete the initial setup as if you opened up a new Mac.
Post-install
Let me just do that quickly for you.
-
Install Clover to the hard disk (or partition macOS is on)
-
Use the same settings for the USB
-
The EFI will be mounted. Mount your USB EFI from Clover Configurator or EFI Mounter and remove the CLOVER folder from your Hard Disk EFI. Then, replace it with the USB one.
-
Eject the USB
-
Restart
-
Enjoy your free Mac computer.

In conclusion, this macOS Mojave installation on the HP Pavilion 570 works really great. I have no personal problems with iMessage since I got people talking to me on here, and everything's okay. Sometimes USB's a problem but I just fix it via some codes.
Most likely, it will survive future system updates, but make sure you update your kexts and Clover first. If you are facing any issues, I can help, ok?
Have a great day.
