  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
  • GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 760
  • RAM: 2x16 Crucial Ballistix
  • Motherboard/Laptop model: Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming
  • Audio Codec: Realtek ALC 892 (Layout 1) (Built In)
  • Ethernet Card: Intel GbE LAN (Built In)
  • Wifi/BT Card: Authentic Apple Wifi/BT Card and Adapter
  • What guide/tool followed: I used the Vanilla Intel Guide. I had previously used TonyMacX86's tools to build an old Haswell hackintosh. I was happy with it, but sleep never worked correctly, and I could not upgrade to Catalina. Since I was already familiar with migrating to Clover on my last build, I was at home in the Vanilla Guide. I still took my time though and ended up with a machine that connected to iMessage on my first try, something I never managed on my old hack.
  • What part I got an issue with: I had a problem getting Airplay to work. I set up the framebuffer exactly as the Vanilla Guide said and backed up my Clover config file. Then I tried to fix it with some instructions I found elsewhere and ended up with kernel panics on boot. When I restored by backup config file, everything started working!
  • What files/config I am using:
    • ACPI: SSDT-AWAC, SSDT-EC-USBX, SSDT-EC, SSDT-PLUG, SSDT-PMC, SSDT-USBX
    • Drivers: ApfsDriverLoader, AptioMemoryFix, HFSPlus
    • Kexts: AppleALC, IntelMausiEthernet, Lilu, NVMeFix, SMCProcessor, SMCSuperIL, USBInjectAll, VirtualSMC, WhateverGreen
  • Extra Info:
    • As you can see, I have not yet mapped my USB ports and I plan on doing that soon.
    • This machine triple boots with Kubuntu and Windows 10. Moving Windows 10 over was as simple as cloning the hard drive from my last hackintosh and moving it over. Windows (and my digital license) did the rest. I was shocked at how easy it was given how difficult Windows can be generally.
    • I didn't know that Intel stopped shipping coolers with their K processors, so I ended up getting a Coolermaster Hyper 212. Inside a Coolermaster N200 Case, this thing stays at a frosty 70 degrees C under 100% loads. I thought briefly about getting a smaller liquid cooler, and I might still because this thing is LOUD.
    • I enabled SIP and feel WAY better about using this computer because of it.
    • I initially thought that I would use OpenCore for this build and got about halfway through the guide before I got stuck and decided to go with Clover. I may migrate over to OpenCore eventually, but this computer is working really well, so there is not much a reason for me to do so.
    • The only thing I have no clue about now is what to do with my old build. It has a ton of drive bays and a lot of RAM. I might make it a FreeNAS server, but I have a hard time letting go of it as a hackintosh for some odd reason! I also have my house's DVR running on an integrated Celeron board. All I would have to do is swap the drives, but that thing has been running very well also. Why mess with it?
    • Anyhow, this thing has been fun to build and a dream to use. I love it.
