| Hello community, I have an iMac from early 2011 to which I changed the original hard drive (HDD) for a SATA SSD in its case. I wanted to install OpenCore Ventura because even though it is an older Mac, I have seen other Macs even from 2009 can run the latest version of macOS with OpenCore. I installed the installer on a USB Sandisk from my MacBook and I checked that everything was working fine: the EFI was installed correctly and the installer was not corrupt. However, when trying to install it on the iMac, the process freezes at the end. Also, when I try to start Internet Recovery with Shift + Command + Option + R, the balloon with "24:00" appears and stays there for a long time, which does not seem normal to me. When you try Option + R, the iMac turns off by itself and, after a while (about 20 minutes), turns on automatically. The iMac had no operating system after the disk change, and I'm sure the USB installation is correct. I don't know if it could be an internal problem with the iMac, a compatibility issue with the motherboard or something related to the SSD. Has anyone gone through something similar or know why the iMac behaves like this when trying to install OpenCore Ventura? Thanks in advance for any help. [link] [comments] |
