Resolving Boot Hangs on 2019 Retina iMacs
Many users with the 2019 iMac experience a blank screen after building OpenCore for macOS Tahoe. This is often due to a conflict with the Radeon Pro graphics initialization.
The Solution:
- Reset NVRAM: Perform a triple PRAM reset to clear the old graphics state.
- Safe Mode Boot: Hold Shift during boot to reach the desktop. This bypasses the full graphics acceleration and allows you to apply root patches.
- Root Patches: Once in Safe Mode, open OCLP and apply the Post-Install Root Patches specifically for the 2019 iMac's GPU.
- Display Settings: If the screen is still black, try connecting an external monitor via Thunderbolt to see if the OS is actually running in the background.
