How to Recover Lost Partitions after macOS Tahoe Update

Finding your Data after a Failed Tahoe Upgrade

If your 2015 iMac update to Tahoe resulted in 'missing' partitions, your APFS Container has likely been modified or the bootloader is hiding incompatible volumes.

Steps to Recover your FL Studio and Music Files:

  1. Disk Utility Check: Boot into macOS and open Disk Utility. Click 'View' > 'Show All Devices'. Look for your old partition; it might be 'unmounted'. Try clicking the Mount button.
  2. OpenCore Picker: At boot, press Spacebar when you see the OpenCore icons. This reveals 'hidden' partitions. Your old Sequoia or Monterey partition might be there.
  3. External Enclosure: If you can't reach the desktop, the safest way to get your music back is to remove the drive, put it in a USB enclosure, and plug it into another Mac. Use a tool like Disk Drill or TestDisk to scan for the 'lost' APFS volumes.

Original Question: "I updated my 2015 iMac to Tahoe and that partition is gone… 😢"

I updated to Tahoe, and when I restarted at the end of the update process, it only showed other partitions and none of them had what I had on the partition I had that I updated. I don’t have the best understanding of how OCLP works but, is there any way to get that data back I have a game emulation app and was in the middle of a game. Also had FL Studio and a bunch of music I made. I’m so bad because I didn’t even need the update I just kept getting notifications that an update was available. Pls help 😭
