How to Fix Windows 10 Boot Loop on MacBook Pro 2011 (OCLP)

Resolving Windows UEFI Boot Issues on Legacy Macs

Getting stuck on the Windows logo during an OCLP-assisted installation on a 2011 MacBook Pro is a common issue with the Intel/AMD hybrid graphics switching.

The Fix:

  1. Legacy BIOS vs UEFI: For 2011 Macs, installing Windows via Legacy BIOS (using a DVD or a non-EFI USB) is often more stable than the UEFI method suggested for newer Macs.
  2. Disable dGPU: If your 17-inch MBP has a failing AMD GPU, you must disable it in the Windows installer to prevent the hang.
  3. Force Restart: Sometimes, simply forcing a restart (holding power) during the hang will allow the installer to continue on the second attempt.
  4. Wipe and Retry: If the hang persists for more than 20 minutes, delete the partition and try creating the installer using the Rufus tool on a PC with 'MBR' partition scheme.

Original Question: "Installed windows using OCLP guide but stuck on this boot screen."

I attempted to install win 10 on my 2011 17" MBP 8,x using the oclp UEFI boot guide and I’ve reached this point where I just see the windows logo and nothing happens. Anyone know the issue? Is it worth deleting the partition and going through the whole process again?
