How to Downgrade from Failed Sequoia to Stable Ventura/Monterey

macOS sequoia

Reverting to a More Stable macOS Version via OCLP

If macOS Sequoia failed on your Mac, moving to macOS Ventura or Monterey is a smart move for stability while still enjoying modern features.

Step-by-Step Downgrade Guide:

  1. Fresh Start is Best: Instead of trying to install over a broken Sequoia partition, it is highly recommended to delete the Sequoia partition and start fresh to avoid file system conflicts.
  2. Create New USB: Use the OCLP app on your Monterey partition to download the macOS Ventura installer and create a new bootable USB.
  3. Boot and Erase: Boot from the Ventura USB (via EFI Boot), open Disk Utility, and erase the old Sequoia partition as APFS.
  4. Install Ventura: Select the freshly erased partition as the destination.
  5. Keep Monterey: Since you have a dual-boot setup, your Monterey partition will remain safe. You can use the OpenCore picker to switch between them.

Original Question: "Need some advice from recent post"

Hi everyone I recently posted about the error with root patching when trying to install sequoia. I realized my disc was partitioned so all hope was not lost I still have the other part of my disc which is still OS Monterey.

Now my question here is would it be a good idea to try to install a later version than Monterey but previous to sequoia since it didn’t work out with sequoia. And if so would I be able to do so on the partition that I was trying to install sequoia on? Or maybe just delete the partition and start fresh? Sorry I didn’t use the search function because this is such a specific situation and I have many questions but thanks for all your responses and patience. 🙏🏻
