Preparing an OCLP Mac for a New Owner
To give your 2017 MacBook Pro to your father with the 'Base OS', you need to completely remove the OpenCore environment.
Wiping Process:
- Reset NVRAM: Hold Cmd+Opt+P+R for three chimes. This removes the OCLP boot settings.
- Internet Recovery: Hold
Cmd + Opt + Rto boot into the official Apple recovery for the 2017 MBP (usually Ventura). - Erase SSD: In Disk Utility, erase the internal SSD. This removes the OCLP EFI partition and all your data.
- Reinstall: Follow the prompts to reinstall the native macOS. It will now boot normally without any OCLP involvement.
Original Question: "How to reset back to factory OS with OCLP installed?"
Hi, last time I posted on here I was asking a stupid question about if OCLP transferred across to a newer mac and thanks for the clarification! However today I have gotten a new MacBook pro aswell, so that means wiping my old one (which has OCLP on it) so my father (currently has a 2013 mbp, my old ones a 2017 mbp) can upgrade his, he has said he'll try base OS as not tech savvy like me. So the question is how can i reset back to factory? Dont care about losing data locally since I transferred all i need onto new already. TIA!
