I'm a Linux person looking into getting into macOS, preferably via hackintosh. After looking through tutorials, what I'm wondering is isn't it more popular to run Hackintosh in a VM on a light Linux distro instead of installing it directly? With a proper VM config you only loose ~300MB of ram and take a 10% performance drop and have the default boot config, the VM allows for hardware abstraction so you never have worry about having the support rug pulled out from under you, people have had great success in tutorials doing this (including even consistently getting iMessage etc to work), and if you have a Linux background it seems much faster and easier to configure than doing a straight hackintosh build. Am I missing something here?
