Black screen with crossed circle after attempting to fix iMessage

Hi guys,

My Sierra install went super smoothly, everything was working (ethernet, audio, drivers) and then I followed the guide in the sidebar to fix iMessage, and now upon rebooting I am just getting the black screen with a crossed out circle. Does anybody know how to fix this or undo what I did?
