Cannot update to High Sierra.

I’ve done all the necessary things (Update clover, copy aefi) and it won’t update. When I do the update partition the bar slowly loads but there’s no “Time remaining” screen just the bar slowly moving and once it hits the end nothing happened. Heck, even after updating clover I can no longer boot into Sierra. I just get a circle with a cross after a minute. I can only get in via safe boot
