I've been trying to solve the sleep/wake and screen brightness issue for awhile and I have a feeling they are related issues. I was able to get screen brightness controls to appear in Preferences by following this post, but the only thing it does is stay 100% brightness until it gets down to the last step, then goes black, no in between brightness adjustment.
As for sleep/wake, what I experience is when my machine goes to sleep and you try and wake it, I just get a backlit black screen. Now I've tried solutions involving IntelGraphicsFixup, WhateverGreen and read threads from multiple different sites about how to get this working. This machine seems to be light on people building with it, so I've been looking at sibling MSI laptop builds for guidance and it seems to be a common problem. Though at its root, this seems like a solvable problem since there are plenty of i7 7700HQ and Intel HD 630 systems out there.
