How to Fix Stuck on booting OpenCore

Graphics issues usually stem from an unsupported GPU, missing acceleration patches, or incorrect boot arguments.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Verify GPU support: Check if your GPU model is natively supported in your target macOS version via WhateverGreen documentation.
  2. Update kexts: Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are current and loaded before other GPU-related kexts.
  3. Check boot arguments: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 for debugging, or agdpmod=pikera for modern AMD cards.
  4. Test Metal support: Open About This Mac > System Report > Graphics and confirm Metal is listed.

Verification

  • Graphics acceleration is smooth (not CPU-bound).
  • Metal is reported in System Information.
  • No GPU-related kernel panics on boot.

Original Question: "Stuck on booting OpenCore."

Hi. I’m new to hackintoshing, I just tried following the guide to create an installer from Windows. I think I understood most of it and did it correctly but it seems I have messed up somewhere as now when I boot from my USB drive I get the message “C:Failed to find SB model Disable Halting on critical error” And it just hangs.

PC Specs are:

MSI A68HM-E33 V2 motherboard

AMD Athlon X4 860K

MSI Nvidia GTX 750Ti

8GB RAM Dual channel

Generic 120GB SSD.

Thanks!
