How to Fix Open core screen turns off during install

Boot failures are caused by firmware settings, incorrect OpenCore configuration, or USB mapping problems.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Boot verbose: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100.
  2. Check firmware: Disable Secure Boot, Fast Boot, CFG Lock; set SATA to AHCI.
  3. Validate OpenCore: Run ocvalidate or ProperTree clean snapshot.
  4. Recreate installer: Fresh USB drive, different port.

Verification

  • Verbose boot passes the previous stop.
  • Installer sees the target disk.

Original Question: "Open core screen turns off during install"

Hello guys,

I am trying to create a hackintosh on an HP Slim desktop 290-p90. I've been able to go upto opencore selection menu, select macos and view the verbose output, after which instead of showing the installer the screen just goes blank and turns off. I've tried waiting nothing happesns. Also tried the troubleshooting section in opencore guide.

Config.plist sanity checks out, HP specific settings enabled where required.

Any help much appreciated.
