How to Fix Can't get HDMI to work properly on Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2020 (Comet Lake)

Boot failures are caused by firmware settings, incorrect OpenCore configuration, or USB mapping problems.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Boot verbose: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100.
  2. Check firmware: Disable Secure Boot, Fast Boot, CFG Lock; set SATA to AHCI.
  3. Validate OpenCore: Run ocvalidate or ProperTree clean snapshot.
  4. Recreate installer: Fresh USB drive, different port.

Verification

  • Verbose boot passes the previous stop.
  • Installer sees the target disk.

Original Question: "Can't get HDMI to work properly on Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2020 (Comet Lake)"

Hello everyone,

I've successfully installed OpenCore 0.6.4 and BigSur on my Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2020. Everything is working perfectly apart from the HDMI port:

Whenever I connect my external display, my internal display sets itself to 30 Hz (practically unusable) while the external display works perfectly. Also, whenever i unplug the HDMI, the internal display shows a black screen and it won't fix itself unless I force reboot the computer.

I also checked my config.plist and couldn't find anything wrong (port set to HDMI and not DP etc.)

Here's my CONFIG.PLIST (note: repo is not updated to OC 0.6.4 and kexts are not updated, though locally everything is up-to date)

Specs if needed:

i7 10510U

Intel UHD 620 + MX 350 (Disabled).

Thanks to everyone! :)
