How to Fix Can’t select anything on the OpenCore Boot Menu/Picker

Graphics issues usually stem from an unsupported GPU, missing acceleration patches, or incorrect boot arguments.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Verify GPU support: Check if your GPU is natively supported via WhateverGreen docs.
  2. Update kexts: Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are current.
  3. Check boot arguments: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 for debugging, or agdpmod=pikera for AMD.
  4. Test Metal: About This Mac > System Report > Graphics.

Verification

  • Graphics acceleration is smooth.
  • Metal is reported in System Information.

Original Question: "Can’t select anything on the OpenCore Boot Menu/Picker"

Hey guys! I’ve been stuck on this for awhile, so I’ve decided to make a Reddit post. After making my usb and finally being able to boot, I did the first part of the install just fine. Although I wasn’t able to pick anything from the boot menu, since it auto loaded the first option by default, I had no issue and assumed I’d be fine. Then I got to the part where I have to boot into the installer. Since I can’t select anything in the picker, I can’t. I followed the windows legacy boot instructions as I can’t boot UEFI.

My specs are: Mobo: ASRock 760GM-HDV CPU: AMD FX-6300 GPU: AMD Radeon R7 240 2 GB

I have tried the fixes on the OpenCore install guide, but to no avail. ( These ones ) Please and thank you.
