DRM Prime Video not working: Fixing Graphics on Hackintosh or Mac

Getting graphics acceleration working is often the final piece of the puzzle for a fully functional Hackintosh. Here is what was done and how you can replicate it.

Step 1 — Verify GPU Compatibility

Check if your GPU model is natively supported in your target macOS version. AMD Radeon RX 400/500/5000 series generally work natively. NVIDIA support ended at High Sierra for most cards.

Step 2 — Update Essential Kexts

Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are installed and current.

Step 3 — Configure Boot Arguments

Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 for debugging. For AMD cards add agdpmod=pikera.

Step 4 — Confirm Metal Support

Open About This Mac > System Report > Graphics/Displays. Metal support should be listed.

Expected Results

  • Graphics acceleration is smooth
  • Correct resolution on all displays
  • No GPU-related kernel panics

Original Question: "DRM Prime Video not working"

I'm using OpenCore 0.6.0 with SMBios 19,1 on a Sapphire Vega 56, i7 9700K and Asus Z390 Prime A. After reading the Fixing DRM section in Dortania I set shikigva=80 and Netflix worked just fine on Safari. For Amazon prime I can play/pause but only get audio with a black background.

Is that common? Is there a fix for it? I did some research but all I could find was how to fix DRM issues (tackling Netflix and Prime video together) for different hardware combinations.
