Original Question: "What's wrong with my App Store?"

I'm on High Sierra (17G14042) and my App Store applications have very unusual behavior. I can get apps without any flaws, but when I install them and click on "open" on the App Store, nothing happens. They do show on the launchpad but when I click on them I get "(App) quitted unexpectedly" and when I refresh my App Store I have the "Install" button again, like I never installed them.

This is driving me nuts sometimes, can anyone help me? I know I'm not the only one experiencing this, but is it supposed to happen? Thanks in advance.
