How to Fix Asus Zenbook UX305LA Catalina Post-install issues (no audio/sleep/graphics)
This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
- Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
- Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
Hi,
I'm trying to hackintosh the above mentioned laptop of my friend using the latest Opencore (The CPU is core i7 5500U and gpu intel HD 5500). I managed to install and boot into Catalina but I have several issues:
- No sound - in the sound settings nothing is present I tried with layout ID's 13 and 16 but no luck
- No Graphics, the graphics card and the display are working to full resolution only and cannot be scaled also it's recognized as 7 mb only (in bios it's set to 32 mb)
- No brightness - I cannot adjust the brightness at all
- No sleep, closing the lid does nothing also when you go Apple logo -> Sleep it hangs until I press a button
I think I've followed carefully the opencore guide but idk how to fix those, I've tried using other people's configs but I didn't even manage to boot.
I initially didn't have the whatevergreen kext in my kexts folder but when I added it it caused kernel Panic so I kept it but "unload" it from config.plist.
You can find my OC folder as well as the codec dump and pcie/usb outputs from linux here

Any help would be much appreciated
