This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
- Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
- Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
I setup a macOS Big Sur installer with Clover bootloader on an SD card using a macOS mojave virtual machine and booted it. Clover loaded fine and macOS install shows as a boot option, but then when I press on the installer the screen goes dark but not entirely black, then after a few minutes the computer just turns off. What can I do?
My specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-1065G7
GPU: Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7
RAM: 16GB
Model: HP Laptop 15s-fq1xxx
Storage: 512GB SSD
