How to Fix OC + Big Sur on Skylake - Help with restart?

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Long time Clover and Hackintosh user here. Trying to use OpenCore to do a fresh install of Big Sur on my Skylake PC. Went through the guide, set everything up properly but even before I can see the installer, my PC restarts.

I have attached the OC log for troubleshooting - https://pastebin.com/x5NNJZyg

Cannot understand where I am going wrong.

PC Specs

6600K

Gigabyte z170X-Gaming 5

16GB RAM

240GB SSD + Multiple other HDDs

Sapphire R9 270X

Also attaching my config.plist if that helps - https://filebin.net/mws6j1wf48a0buti/config.plist?t=vuqfihkt
