Over the past week, some M1 Mac users have been reporting alarming SSD health readings, suggesting that these devices are writing extraordinary amounts of data to their drives.

It is not known how widespread the TBW issue is, but reports of strange SSD behavior are also now emerging from users with Intel-based Macs, suggesting that the TBW issue may not be exclusive to ‌M1‌ Macs.

Well, after reading this article I tried checking my disk with Smartmontools but I couldn't get detailed results. Might be related to having a SATA SSD instead of NVME.

It's still vague if SATA SSD owners should enable TRIM or not. Some says enable it while others say the opposite as Big Sur handles it in its own way. I've enabled it but I'm still worried about the health though.

People with an M1 mac, please run `brew install smartmontools && sudo smartctl --all /dev/disk0` and report back (and what kind of usage you make of the machine, especially RAM).

I'm at <600GBW on my MBP, but I don't use it heavily.
