How to Fix Sleep Problem with Hackintosh

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
  2. Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
  3. Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

After my Big Sur Hack Pro turns the display off automatically (presumably sleeping). Ocassionally the RGBs and fans turn on and off and the computer makes the clicking sound it makes when i turn it on and off. But it didn't actually shut down and it wakes with no problem.

Specs:

i9 9900k using iGPU

200gb SSD

ASUS PRIME Z390-A

32gb g.skill RAM

---

Im using OpenCore 0.6.6

If you need the EFI folder i can upload it. Is it a settings inside macOS though?
