How to Fix Updated to 0.6.6 successfully, though now my OpenCanopy GUI disappeared!

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Did the following steps:

  • Update as usual
  • Checked the bootstrap 0.6.6 update guide
  • Copied everything from the 0.6.6 Resources folder to my EFI partition just in case there was something new
  • Checked my Misc -> boot settings:
    • PickerMode: External
    • PickerAttributes: 17
    • PickerVariant: Modern

No luck so far. Everytime I boot, it shows me the classic text boot picker.
