How to Fix Buying a GPU dedicated for hackintosh?
This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
- Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
- Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
Hi, I've got a high end PC with Ryzen 9-3900X, 64 GB RAM and RTX 2080 SUPER. Unfortunately I've come to realise that the nvidia cards aren't compatible with MacOS. What cheap GPU should I get to run hackintosh with dual boot? I want to run MacOS solely for work so my only expectation is that it would run smoothly. GPU-heavy tasks like gaming and video editing I'll be doing on Windows.
I've also read that sometimes unsupported GPUs might cause an issue if you run them alongside compatible GPU, is this still an issue?
